“The Art of Active Listening” Training Presented by CONTACT Helpline
“The Art of Active Listening” teaches powerful listening skills that everyone can use in their daily lives with
family, friends, and co-workers by helping participants develop empathetic, non-judgmental listening techniques. This extensive training, presented by counselors and mental health professionals, offers important information about how to assist with many of the problems people face and how we can respond in skilled, helpful ways. Practice sessions in a supportive, nonjudgmental atmosphere help participants begin to use their new skills and gain confidence as they discover the value of constructive, caring listening and responding. The course is open to anyone in the community and is also the first step for people who may be interested in becoming a volunteer phone worker for CONTACT Helpline, though there is no obligation to do so.
You are invited to participate in a pilot program that is now available with our training lectures online and a more flexible schedule for the in-person portions of the training. We hope that this enables many of you to get involved in the wonderful practice of active listening.
Our in-person sessions, meeting at 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike, will begin on Wednesday evening September 28th at 7 – 9 PM and will continue meeting at that time on Wednesdays and also on Friday afternoons from 1 – 3 PM. We will offer 6 weeks of sessions and you will need to plan on attending 5 of those 12 available sessions, or all 12 if you would like! You can attend Wednesdays or Fridays or some of both depending on your schedule needs.
